Amor Township Minutes for
February 8, 2023
Meeting called to order by Chairman Mike Holstrom. Others in attendance were Supervisor Kerry Baumgartner, Supervisor Rick Pulford, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Dan Thorson and Dave Holmgren.
Pledge allegiance was recited.
Minutes were read and a motion was made by Pulford to accept, seconded by Baumgartner and carried.
Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $606,243.28. Baumgartner motioned to accept, seconded by Pulford and carried.
Baumgartner made a motion to approve and pay claims #5416-5428 w/ payroll, and 3 automatic withdrawals. It was seconded by Pulford and carried.
Clerk reminded the board that the monthly meeting is before the annual meeting and the elections. Monthly meeting is March 8, 2023. Annual meeting and Elections are on March 14, 2023. Polls are open from 4pm-8pm. Board of Canvass will have to be advertised and held on March 15, 2023. It is usually done at the monthly meeting after the elections.
Clerk asked the board to approve June 10, 2023 as township cleanup day from 9am-12pm. She will confirm with Steve’s Sanitation on the date and time. Motion by Pulford to approve date and time, seconded by Baumgartner and carried.
Holstrom gave the fire report. There were 2 meetings last month. They are looking at replacing a truck and water tanker. The fire truck is over 30 years old. A new truck was quoted at $900,000.00. would be paid over 3 years. They are looking at repairing the water tanker. Fire calls have gone up greatly for the department. They also give mutual aid at times. They are looking into used fire trucks and what is available. More information to come in the future.
Dave checked into a new fan system for the shop to help dry the floor and equipment better. One fan is not working and the other fan is too small to do it all. Big Ass Fans gave a quote for one 8ft. fan in the middle of the shop. Cost is $4,689. He will contact them and get an installation price for everything.
Lake Region Electric Cooperative bill has a credit that should have gone on the cost of the generator. Clerk will call and get it straightened out.
Pulford got a compliment on the road maintenance this winter. He wanted to pass it along to Dave Holmgren and thank him for all he does to keep the roads in good shape.
With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:54pm.
