November 9, 2016

 

Meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Holstrom. In attendance were Supervisor Val Dietz, Supervisor Eric Roberts, Clerk Brenda Hildebrand, Treasurer Lori Holmgren, Chuck Erickson and Dave Holmgren.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Chairman Holstrom called the meeting to order.

Minutes were read.  Motion to approve minutes made by Dietz, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Treasurer’s report was given with a checkbook ending balance of $127,086.70. Motion to approve made by Dietz, seconded by Roberts and carried.

Chairman Holstrom made a motion to approve claims #3916-3939, and 5 automatic withdrawals. It was seconded by Dietz and carried.

Clerk gave a report on the elections. Total of 242 voters, 26 new registrants, about a 71% turnout. There were 311 registered voters at the start of the election. Everything went very well.

Supervisor Dietz spoke on the phone with the owner of the tree in the twp right-of-way. He relayed to him the date that was set for removal and that if anything happens between now and the date of removal the twp is not liable. He agreed to this and chose to leave it and have it removed by Memorial Day. Clerk will send a letter explaining this and the date of removal.

Board discussed that payment of the twp loan to First National Bank of Ottertail. After making a deposit from Otter Tail County; Roberts made a motion to pay $160,000.00 on the loan. It was seconded by Dietz and carried. A claim will be made next month for this amount.

Dave gave the road report. All twp roads are in good condition. The Clerk thanked Dave for cleaning and sweeping the shop before the elections. It looks good and organized. He ordered some supplies and is working on the road signs.

Chairman Holstrom gave the fire report. Most of the building is complete. The trucks are back and parked inside. It should be on budget. There may be an open house in the future. Supervisor Dietz talked with the Ottertail City Fire Chief. He voiced his concern about the proposed cost of the water truck. There is no flexibility on the cost or payment plan.

Clerk had received a call about the park celebration in 2018. The O.T. Historical Society would like to help out. It was discussed that a celebration would be best on a Saturday. Clerk will check with the Historical Society and The Lake Property Owners Association.

Speed limit signs were discussed. After a long heated discussion. Roberts made a motion to set 25 mph speed limit on all tarred twp roads. Holstrom agreed and Dietz opposed. Motion was carried. Holstrom will contact David Houser about the speed limit and go from there.
