To put it simply: I’m a good cook, but a lazy one. I often avoid making meals from scratch because I don’t have the time. When my work day is finally done, I just want to lounge on the couch and turn on my favorite comfort TV shows, but this year, I’m determined to cook more, make healthier food choices, and order less takeout. So far, so good.
I had the pleasure of reviewing The Pioneer Woman 6-Quart Digital Slow Cooker from Walmart, and it has been a game-changer in my daily routine. I’m still able to relax after work but now with the bonus of a home-cooked meal that tastes delicious and requires minimal effort to prepare. The $35 countertop appliance is my secret weapon for low-lift dishes that come out fantastic every single time.

Before adding The Pioneer Woman’s slow cooker to my kitchen, I had a Crock-Pot that was much smaller and not as user-friendly. I so badly wanted to use it for comfort meals, but I rarely reached for it. Anytime I tried to use it, the size didn’t fit the recipes I was trying to make. I knew if I had the right slow cooker for my needs, I’d be unstoppable in the kitchen.
Since swapping to The Pioneer Woman’s 6-quart option from Walmart, it’s made my life much easier. Thanks to its electronic display, I can keep track of how long it’s been cooking and adjust accordingly. Making mouth-watering recipes is as simple as mixing together ingredients in the morning, popping on the lid, setting the timer and heat level, and then going about my routine as usual. When I’m tired at night I don’t have to panic about what I’m going to cook—I already have food waiting for me. Not only has this helped me fall back in love with cooking, but it’s saved me money from no longer ordering takeout. My first meal of honey garlic chicken came out perfect and was filled with flavor.

Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, the speckled slow cooker—which is also available in bright teal—is foolproof. It has a locking lid and a stoneware dishwasher-safe insert (aka the bowl that holds the ingredients) which is incredibly easy to clean and required minimal elbow grease to get it sparkling like new again.
Shoppers agree that it’s super easy to use and the ideal size. Even after the timer runs out, the slow cooker goes into warming mode for two hours, which one reviewer said comes in handy if you’re away from home when the initial timer ends. Another person said it warms up right away but doesn’t overheat or burn food inside.
