When we need a little more hydration than just the typical glass of water, we turn to Gatorade to get the job done. Whether it’s post-workout, after a long night on the town, or when we’re dehydrated and under the weather, Gatorade always provides a delicious way to replenish and hydrate when we need it most.

We all have our favorite go-to flavors, too. Some prefer the likes of Cool Blue while others opt for the traditional Lemon-Lime. But there are also fun limited-edition offerings, like the Aqua Blast Thirst Quencher that we can’t wait to stock up on when we find it in stores. The only problem is that because they are limited, they’re not always around when our craving hits.

Luckily, we no longer have to worry about that with two beloved flavors that are making a permanent comeback.

The Return of Gatorade's Midnight Ice and Lightning Blast

Gatorade must have heard its thirsty fans’ pleas because two popular flavors from its Thirst Quencher line are now back and here to stay. The once limited-edition Midnight Ice and Lightning Blast are now available permanently on major retailer shelves nationwide.

Midnight Ice is Gatorade’s very first midnight-inspired beverage, which is sort of reminiscent of a dark starless night or black ice. Much like a dark icy night, this variation tastes crisp and refreshing, with all those electrolytes Gatorade is known for.

Lightning Blast, on the other hand, comes in a cool, metallic silver shade with a bright purple lightning bolt on the label. The taste is also refreshing, as most drinks from the brand are, but with a slightly fruity touch.

Fans stormed social media to express their excitement about the news. “Thank god midnight ice is back,” someone commented. They are “really glad to see it’s permanent now” since it’s one of their favorites.

Another fan joked that their consumption of Gatorade may have something to do with the permanent return, commenting, "I'm pretty sure I single-handedly forced Gatorade to make midnight ice permanent. I drank like 2 of those a day for like 2 months at least.”

Clearly, fans have been thirsty for these flavors and now that they are permanent, no one has to worry about them going anywhere anytime soon.
