We’ve never seen a month packed with so much new pop as January 2025. If you blinked, you might’ve missed some major releases, like the citrusy new Coca-Cola, a first-of-its-kind formula for Sprite, and even the grand return of two ’80s favorites.
But even amid all that soda excitement, one pending Dr Pepper drop has stayed on our minds since late 2024, when rumors first started circulating about a fruity new flavor. The initial online leak “shook the Dr Pepper community,” as one fan put it, leaving DP fans counting the days until the big reveal. Today, the wait is officially over.
New Dr Pepper Blackberry Is Finally Here
When word first spread about Dr Pepper Blackberry in November, it was hard to tell if the new soda was just speculation or actually in the works. But then, cases and cases started quietly appearing on store shelves—and shoppers raced to get a first taste.
Now, soda fans can stop their hunting, because Dr Pepper Blackberry is officially launching nationwide next week. And best of all, it’s here to stay.

When fans first heard about the fruity new flavor, some speculated it might be a rebranded version of Dr Pepper Dark Berry, a short-lived soda considered "one of (if not) the best variant of Dr Pepper,” according to one dedicated fan. But after tasting it, it became clear that Dr Pepper Blackberry is a new creation all its own.
Dr Pepper Blackberry offers a uniquely bold taste, combining the fruity sweetness of blackberry with the signature spicy-sweet kick of a classic Dr Pepper. Fans have described the blackberry flavor as “tart, but smooth” and say it “blends with the Dr Pepper exceptionally.” Someone even compared it to sipping a blackberry crumb cake streusel—which honestly gives us reason enough to crack one open.
The new soda innovation is coming in two varieties, classic and zero-sugar, and is joining Dr Pepper’s permanent lineup, alongside other soda sidekicks like Dr Pepper Strawberries & Cream and Dr Pepper Cherry.
You’ll be able to find Dr Pepper Blackberry in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans starting next week at retailers nationwide. For a limited time, both the classic and zero-sugar varieties will also be available in 20-ounce bottles.
Now, you might think the Dr Pepper community would be resting easy after this exciting new release, but no. New rumors are already stirring about the popular Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut making a seasonal comeback. We’re still waiting for official confirmation there, but one thing’s for sure—soda fans are a tough crowd to satisfy.
