There are some celebrities out there who just seem like they can do it all. Kate Hudson is one of them. Between her illustrious acting career, ranging from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” with Matthew McConaughey to the “Knives Out” sequel “Glass Onion” and “Bride Wars” with Annie Hathaway; her brand ventures, including Fabletics and King St. Vodka; her podcast “Sibling Revelry” with her brother Oliver Hudson; her books; and now her music debut, Hudson is one busy lady.

So, like many home cooks, Hudson is all for recipes that are simple, fast, and, of course, delicious. Plus, with three kids to feed, the recipe has to be a crowd-pleaser. That’s why she turns to her four-ingredient family-favorite tacos.

Hudson’s easy tacos aren’t just her kids’ and husband Danny Fujikawa’s favorite dish, either. They’re beloved by her whole superstar family—including Kurt Russell, who is Hudson’s mother Goldie Hawn’s life partner.

“These are the go-to tacos in our house. They’re my dad’s favorite. He actually had this dream to open a car wash and my tacos would be the only thing that you could get there,” Hudson said on a recent episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

If Hudson’s tacos are good enough that acclaimed actor Kurt Russell would open a business just to sell them, then, of course, we need the recipe ourselves.

Kate Hudson's Easy 4-Ingredient Tacos

Hudson made her simple ground beef tacos on her longtime friend Drew Barrymore’s daytime show while promoting her new Netflix series “Running Point.” Now, don’t think these ground beef tacos are just something you can get at Taco Bell—because they aren’t.

The trick to Hudson’s tacos is that she fries the soft tortilla in oil, then adds the cooked taco meat and fries it for even longer, until the tortilla is brown, but still a little chewy.

A few commenters on “The Drew Barrymore Show” TikTok video noted that this style is called Taco Dorados, but it’s also similar to a taquito just not rolled completely up. In 2024, a version of fried beef tacos, also known as Arizona Tacos, went viral on TikTok for the raw meat that you add to a tortilla before frying the entire thing. If you were worried about the raw meat cooking through, Hudson’s method solves that problem by browning the ground beef with onions and taco seasoning before adding it to the tortillas. Then, once the taco is finished frying, you can add any toppings you like.

“It’s all about the garnishes,” Hudson said, adding cilantro salsa, guacamole, pickled onions, and sour cream to the inside of the taco.

“It’s the best texture,” Barrymore said after taking a bite. “This is what I dream of.”

This isn’t the first thumbs up Hudson has received from a daytime talk show host for her fried tacos. She made this recipe for Rachael Ray back in 2017, who also gave rave reviews.

“You’re the best person on the planet because this taco is delicious,” Ray said.

With Russell, Barrymore, and Ray all loving Hudson’s tacos, how many more stars need to try the recipe before you’re sold on the recipe? Hopefully none, because here’s how to make Hudson’s easy tacos at home.

Hudson starts by sautéing one chopped onion in oil, then browns two pounds of ground beef and adds taco seasoning. She doesn’t say if she uses a specific brand or makes her own on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” but when she made it for the “Rachael Ray Show,” she made a blend with chili powder, cumin, paprika, celery salt, Mexican oregano, onion powder, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch.

While the meat cooks, she heats a “soaking level of high heat oil” (like vegetable, canola, or avocado) in a pan. Once shimmering, she adds a tortilla and “lets it bubble a little.” Then, she spoons in the meat and closes the taco.

Hudson fries the tacos for 10 seconds on each side, then removes them from the heat and onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Then comes the fun part—the toppings, which are all up to you to decide.

We can understand why Barrymore was salivating just looking at the tacos because our mouths are watering just thinking about them.
