Many customers who frequent the Chick-fil-A drive-thru do so because they love the signature chicken, waffle fries, and, of course, chain-specific sauces. While we’ll agree that Chick-fil-A’s chicken nuggets are top tier, we can’t let fans sleep on the many other delicious items at the fast food restaurant.

Chick-fil-A’s menu is relatively simple compared to many of its competitors. Because the menu only features a handful of items, it makes the options feel a little more special. Especially when you realize that the chain has created quite a few foods that are unique to Chick-fil-A.

Take, for instance, Chick-fil-A’s special, old-fashioned vanilla ice cream called the Icedream. The chain offers myriad unique desserts using the Icedream treat as a foundation, including the fan-favorite Frosted Lemonade and Frosted Coffee.

The “Frosted” treats feature a combination of the Icedream dessert with either Chick-fil-A’s lemonade, iced coffee, or occasionally a seasonal option (like this month’s Pineapple Dragonfruit Frosted Lemonade) for a sweet, frozen drink that’s somewhere between a slushie and a milkshake. Currently, Chick-fil-A only offers the Frosted treatment on its coffee and lemonade beverages, but that all might change very soon.

Chick-fil-A

Beginning March 17, Chick-fil-A is testing two new beverages—the Icedream Spin and Icedream Float—in four markets across the country.

The new Icedream Spin allows you to combine any of Chick-fil-A’s fountain beverages, which includes Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Cherry Coke, Sprite, Barq’s Root Beer, Dr Pepper, Diet Dr Pepper, and Hi-C, with its Icedream dessert. The Icedream Float, on the other hand, is Chick-fil-A’s take on a classic soda float, and allows you to mix your choice of fountain beverage with a swirl of Icedream.

Prior to Chick-fil-A’s official menu test, many fans found that they could order a “Frosted” Soda at some restaurants, which essentially hacked the menu to create what’s now called the Icedream Spin. However, whether the employee would honor the request was up to that location’s discretion. Following the popularity of that menu hack, Chick-fil-A is testing both its Icedream Spin and Icedream Float beverages at participating restaurants in Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Diego, and Tampa.

You can determine if your go-to Chick-fil-A location is participating in the market test by checking the Chick-fil-A app or contacting the restaurant. The Icedream Spin and Icedream Float will only be available for a limited time, so, if you’re in one of the test locations, you’ll want to head to the drive-thru ASAP to share your opinion on whether the drinks should come to nationwide menus.

As for the rest of us, you can continue trying the Frosted Soda hack for now, and keep your fingers crossed that the sweet new drinks will hit the official menu soon.
