In the 1950s, radio and TV personality Art Linkletter had a segment on his show "House Party" called “Kids Say the Darndest Things.” The segment—that ran for decades through both his radio and TV shows—was simply Linkletter talking to little kids and enjoying whatever they came up with in their creative little minds.

If Linkletter was still around, we bet he would have loved hosting the four-year-old who went viral for calling 911 on his mom because she ate his ice cream. That’s right. If you missed the news, a boy in Wisconsin recently called the police after discovering his mom stole a scoop of ice cream from the freezer—but he had a change of heart when the police arrived.

Tillamook—the dairy producer that some chefs swear makes the best vanilla ice cream—was so tickled by the story that it’s now giving away free ice cream for anyone who has been subjected to ice cream theft.

How to Get Free Ice Cream From Tillamook

In the event of an ice cream emergency (yes, lack of an ice cream is an emergency!) Tillamook has decided to take the burden off 911 operators and create its own ice cream emergency phone line.

For a limited time, the award-winning ice cream and cheese maker is putting up a Tillamook Meltdown Line, a special number to call if you’ve been the victim of ice cream theft. For anyone who has ever hidden a pint of ice cream under the frozen vegetables only to find their kids have figured out the hiding space, Tillamook has your back.

From March 18 to April 18, anyone can call 833-MLT-DOWN to win a chance to get a free tub of Tillamook ice cream, while supplies last. There is one catch though: This offer is only valid for the first 1,000 callers, so you’ll have to act quickly. For the official terms and conditions, visit Tillamook’s Instagram.

And, because no one has time to figure out what number the letters correspond to in an emergency, we’re here to help you out. When your ice cream emergency hits, Tillamook’s emergency ice cream line is 833-658-3696. You can thank us for doing the translation work by sharing your ice cream with us!
