When the snack aisle starts to feel overwhelming, we often fall back on our favorites, reaching for the chips that have been pantry staples since our afterschool snack days: Doritos, Tostitos, and Ruffles, to name a few.

But just because these classics have stood the test of time doesn’t mean we expect them to forever stay the same (after all, we’ve never shied away from a bit of brand innovation). Frito-Lay knows this better than anyone, which is why it’s recently revamped these three fan-favorite chips with reformulated recipes—and each new chip sounds more snackable than the last.

Frito Lay Rolls Out New Simply Snack Line

Following the trend of “better-for-you” products, Frito-Lay has recently revamped its Simply brand. Originally launched in 2002 with artificial flavor-free options like White Cheddar Cheetos Puffs and Organic Tostitos, the Simply line has now been refreshed with a new look—and four new snacks.

Some fans may have noticed Simply products disappearing from shelves, prompting concerns over discontinuation, but behind the scenes, Frito-Lay was busy perfecting the brand’s next chapter. Now, Simply is back with snacks that promise to be just as crunchy, flavorful, and delicious as their original counterparts.

The updated Simply lineup is debuting four new flavors. First up are two Doritos varieties, each made with whole grains. Zesty Cool Ranch brings a fresh take on the original with a touch of buttermilk and fresh herbs, while White Cheddar Nacho swaps out the classic nacho cheese for a rich white Cheddar coating.

Next, Tostitos Sea Salt chips are made with avocado oil, catering to health-conscious snackers and designed for prime dipping potential. And rounding out the lineup, Hot & Spicy Ruffles deliver bold heat with a red pepper spice blend.

The Simply line is made without artificial flavors or colors, which is especially important considering the FDA’s recent Red Dye 3 ban. Food companies have until 2027 to remove the ingredient from their products, making Frito-Lay’s reformulated chips a step ahead of the requirement.

Whether this revamp was driven by consumer preferences or regulatory changes, fans are already loving the new products. “Zesty Cool Ranch for sure!” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “White Cheddar Nacho sounds yum,” added another.

With healthier snacking on the rise, and mega brands like PepsiCo—the parent company of Frito-Lay—making major moves in response, we wouldn’t be surprised if the snack company soon expands the Simply line even further. The new snacks are rolling out nationwide this month, but like other Frito-Lay fans, we’re also “looking forward to what flavors [come] later.”
