The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for pork carnitas after they were found to be potentially contaminated with foreign material, specifically pieces of metal from equipment damage during the production process. The fully cooked pork products were produced by Cargill Meat Solutions and sold under the Park Street Deli brand.

The products were shipped to Aldi stores nationwide, however, the FSIS did not issue a formal recall because they are no longer available on shelves. Still, the FSIS is concerned that some consumers may have the products in their refrigerators or freezers.

How to Identify the Recalled Aldi Pork Carnitas

The Park Street Deli Carnitas were produced between April 1 and 2, 2025. The following products are subject to the public health alert:

  • 16-ounce sleeved tray packages labelled "Pork Carnitas SEASONED & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS" with "Use By" dates "06/30/2025" or "07/01/2025" printed on the side of the packaging.

The products also bear the establishment number “Est. 46049” inside the USDA mark of inspection. You can view photos of the labels on FSIS’s website.

What to Do if You Have the Pork Affected by the FSIS Health Alert

As mentioned, the pork is no longer available for sale, but FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers' fridges or freezers. If you purchased these products, you are urged not to consume them. Instead, throw them away or return them to the original place of purchase for a refund.

If you have any questions about this public health alert, contact Cargill's Consumer Hotline at 1-844-419-1574.
