Most of us know Glen Powell for his blockbuster hits and charming on-screen roles, but he’s also got a genuine love for good food (which, honestly, just makes him even more likable). He recently launched his own line of sauces at Walmart, proving he cares just as much about quality ingredients as he does about bold flavor.

That appreciation for cooking didn’t come out of nowhere—it started in his grandmother’s kitchen, where he first fell in love with homestyle dishes. So when Bon Appétit asked him to name the foods he can’t live without, it’s no surprise that a simple, comforting classic made the list—straight from his grandma’s recipe box.

Glen Powell's Favorite Comfort Food

Like the rest of us—and fellow celebrities—Glen has his comfort food cravings. And when he does, it’s often a dish that reminds him of home: gnocchi.

"My grandmother, Grammy, was a gnocchi pro," Glen shared in the interview. "Gnocchi was always sort of just one of her staples."

Gnocchi is one of our all-time favorite dinner staples. It’s simple, filling, and oh-so comforting, no matter if you mix it with a rich Alfredo or light marinara. It can be whipped up with just three basic ingredients: potatoes, flour, and eggs. And it satisfies a hungry family in no time.

It’s easy to see why Glen considers it a food he can’t live without, as he grew up with an almost endless supply of it. At Grammy’s house, it sounds like he always got more than his fill of the cozy Italian favorite.

"Grammy always had this phrase—it was just, 'Eat my honey, eat,'" he recalled. "It was always about seconds and thirds and just trying more food."

Glen's Take on Gnocchi

These days, Glen says he’s become a pretty good home chef himself. If he’s cooking for a date, gnocchi is one of his go-to dishes. It’s the perfect date-night dinner—impressive in flavor and presentation, yet simple to make (our favorite kind of recipe, too). But when he serves it with meatballs, he gives the dish a unique twist.

"Instead of several meatballs, I will make one giant meatball. It sort of allows you to have like a little more pink in the center. So it's like a gobstopper—like a meat gobstopper, you know? You get to the gooey center a little bit. It's a little more of a Texas treat," he told the magazine.

We’re not totally convinced the FDA would sign off on that gooey, pink center—but hey, when Glen Powell serves you a meat gobstopper, you don’t ask questions.

Glen admits that, like in most families, food has “always been the Powells’ love language.” Nobody takes up space in your heart (or your stomach) quite like your grandmother’s cooking—and that’s something we’ll always stand by.
