Key Takeaways
- Wendy's just quietly rolled out a new item to select grocery stores.
- The release offers fans the option of recreating their favorite Wendy's burgers in the comforts of their home.
These days, it feels like there are more and more fast food items you can find in the grocery store, from Chick-fil-A’s bottled sauces to White Castle’s Sliders. Even Sonic has tater tots in stores, which, according to our taste test of the best grocery store tater tot brands, came in second place.
One brand that doesn’t show up in the grocery store frequently, though, is Wendy’s. Yes, the restaurant has packed its fan-favorite chili into cans, but that’s the only item we’re aware of—until now.
Recently, a different Wendy’s product has shown up in grocery stores—and it's coming just in time for grilling season.
Wendy’s Launches New Beef Patties in Stores
If there’s one thing we know about Wendy’s beef patties, it’s that they are fresh, not frozen—it’s in all of the brand’s advertising. And now, according to a post from Instagram’s @snackbetch, those fresh quarter-pound beef patties are available for sale at Kroger.
Wendy’s confirmed that it’s looking to bring its “famous food to customers in new and exciting ways” and that these patties are currently only available in Columbus, Ohio and Denver, Colorado, at local King Soopers or Kroger stores. Wendy’s didn’t say whether these are test markets, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the brand wanted to see how well they did before committing to a nationwide release.
"This is a dream come true" one fan commented on the social post. "Definitely gotta grill these," added someone else.
One Facebook user found the new item in stores and indicated that the patties are $9 for a four-pack, which brings the cost of each patty to $2.25. Once you buy everything else you need to make a burger out of them—buns, cheese, pickles, and ketchup—you may be spending more than you would if you swung by Wendy’s.
Still, for those who love Wendy’s burgers and want to throw them on the grill at home, these are an option. Now, if we could only figure out how to make a Frosty at home, we might never need to hit the drive-thru again.
