There’s a certain je ne sais quoi about Trader Joe’s tote bags. When we see someone on the street carrying one, we just know they’re cool. Despite not being a food item, Trader Joe’s bags have amassed a cult-like fanbase, with shoppers racing to stores to buy every iteration from collapsible to canvas to mini, and more. Even Aldi has capitalized on this popularity, recently releasing its own collapsible tote to rival Trader Joe’s.
We had only just recovered from last month, when fans waited lined up at 4 a.m. to get their hands on the new Mini Pastel Tote Bags. The bags went viral on TikTok, with fans sharing videos of people practically fighting over them in stores. But now, we’re having whiplash, with a brand-new bag causing Beatlemania levels of pandemonium.
Trader Joe's New Peach Insulated Tote Bags
The latest bag catching the eyes of Trader Joe’s shoppers is the Large Peach Insulated Tote Bag, a new, summery colorway of a longtime favorite format. The bag costs $7.99, hold up to 8 gallons, and features a zipper, thick strap, a large insulated interior, and a small mesh pocket. Fans on social media are gushing over how convenient these sunset-colored totes are, noting that they’re ideal for grocery shopping, beach days, picnics, and more.
However, getting your hands on one of Trader Joe’s limited-edition totes may feel like trying to track down an endangered species. “Sold out instantly all around me in SoCal,” one fan wrote in the Trader Joe’s subreddit. “I got there at 8:30 this morning. They were all gone,” another commented on an Instagram post by @trader_joes_treasure_hunt. Another said they “Stood in line 20 min before opening,” but still couldn’t manage to get their hands on one.
“Are people going to buy 50 and then sell for $30?” joked another commenter, referencing how TJ’s totes are often resold at a significant markup. And they weren’t far off. The new bags are already being listed online for as high as $65 (down from the low-low price of $999).
Still, the high demand won’t stop some fans from trying. “They need to stop making new colors because I’m just going to keep buying them. I literally cannot help myself,” a fan wrote on Reddit. “Even though I don’t need it I want it, it’s so pretty,” another commented on Instagram.
The Large Peach Insulated Tote Bags are available for a limited time and selling fast, so snatch one up if you find one! But if your store has sold out, fear not—there’ll likely be another special TJ’s tote bag around the corner.
