If you’re a fan of seafood, chances are you’ve noticed it’s fish sandwich season. Some restaurants such as McDonald’s and Culver’s offer the crispy handhelds year-round, whereas others like Arby’s and Dairy Queen bring them back each spring ahead of Lent. These sandwiches are typically straightforward with a soft bun, a battered fish fillet, and a heaping spoonful of creamy tartar sauce. While the sandwiches are a seasonal staple, sometimes the craving strikes for a bolder entrée. Enter: Zaxbys.
Last year, the Georgia-based chicken chain launched Southern Fried Shrimp, a much-welcomed alternative to the season’s typical battered fish sandwiches. And it was clearly a hit because this year, Zaxbys is not only bringing its Southern Fried Shrimp back to menus, but adding even more ways to enjoy it.
Zaxbys’ Southern Fried Shrimp Returns
Zaxbys
Zaxbys’ Southern Fried Shrimp is returning to menus nationwide starting March 3. The generously seasoned dish features butterflied shrimp dunked in peppery buttermilk, and coated in a garlic- and onion powder-infused batter. It’s ideal for dipping in Zaxtail sauce, a blend of Zax sauce and cocktail sauce, or any of the restaurant’s other 13 flavorful sauce options. Guests will also be able to order Zaxbys’ new Buffalo Shrimp, which features crunchy shrimp tossed in Buffalo Garlic Blaze sauce and served alongside ranch.
Those seeking more value can take advantage of Zaxbys’ meal deals. Zaxbys’ Southern Fried Shrimp meal features eight pieces of shrimp, Zesty Zaxtail sauce, Texas toast, crinkle fries, and a small drink. If you can’t choose between chicken and shrimp, you don’t have to—the new ZaxSeas Surf & Turf Meal includes everything the Southern Fried Shrimp meal does, but with the addition of three Chicken Fingerz. And good news for fans of the newly permanent Asian Zensation Salad–you’ll be able to swap the salad’s chicken for shrimp next time you order.
Zaxby’s Southern Fried Shrimp will be available at participating locations through April 27, giving you plenty of time to try all the new menu options before they swim away.
